Army Formations Made Easy - Caesar's Rome EditionĪ special thanks to the creators of Realistic Battle Mod for their help in the development of this mod. This mod is the final product of an university thesis on game development and artificial intelligence and was heavily inspired by the following mods: To access the test battle, press Ctrl+R while on the campaign map. You can exit the battle by killing the single enemy in the battlefield. Here you can experiment with positions and arrangements without the pressure of being in a battle and getting an arrow between the ribs. You can test and play around with the mods features by entering the Test Battle. Battles are divided into five phases: Prepare, Ranged, Engage, Winning and Losing, and you can give one order for each of your formations to follow in each phase. You can activate a battle plan by pressing PgUp during a battle. To define a plan, go to the Ctrl+E menu and then press Plan Definition button on the top of the menu. You can set a Battle Plan which your troops will follow until given a new order which overwrites the plan orders. For instance, you can order your cavalry to follow you immediately or your infantry to charge as soon as they can. To set up these orders, press Ctrl+E in the campaign map to enter the menu You can set Initial Orders for each of your formations which represents the orders they will begin with at the start of the battle. If your army has no infantry then the next formation will be select (archers) and so on and so forth following the base formation order: Infantry (I), Archers (II), Cavalry (III), Horse Archers (IV), Skirmishers (V), Heavy Infantry (VI), Light Cavalry (VII) and Heavy Cavalry (VIII). The positions are set based on the position of the main formation (Infantry). You can then press F10/F11/F12 to apply the army position in one of the slots. During a field battle, position your troops within the map and press Ctrl+F10/F11/F12 to save the current army position and arrangements in slots 1, 2 or 3. You can save and load army position presets by using the Loadout System. Re-implemented battle AI for npc lords which is influenced by their culture and their tactics skill.
Within this mod you'll find the following features: Cunning Lords aims to improve troop commanding and bring variety within field battles.
